The Green Wrasse is also referred to as the Pastel Green Wrasse or Green Coris. The body color is a most attractive, pastel green without extravagant markings. The Green Wrasse can be recognised by its colouration. Females are pale green above and white below. They have small dark spots on the sides of the body, a thin dark line on the pectoral fin base and thin dark lines on the abdomen. A dark smudge may be present on the side of the body. Males are greenish with pink spots on the side of the body that form a network of lines anteriorly. The head has irregular bands of pink and green. Green Wrasse is an excellent addition to your aquarium.

Green Wrasse is a salt water species mostly found on coral reefs and inshore waters of the tropical Western Pacific, Philippines and in the entire Indo Pacific region. Green Wrasse has different temperament at different stages of its growth. Although smaller individuals are quite passive, large specimens can be pugnacious toward conspecifics and other wrasses especially those introduced to a tank after they are. If you want to keep more than one Green Wrasse in the same tank, select smaller individuals. Green Wrasse is popular in reefs and is safe with corals, but is a potential threat to fan worms, small snails and ornamental shrimp.

The Green Wrasse is a medium maintenance fish. Aquarist that are moderately trained or experienced can keep it. A 60 gallon or larger aquarium with a tight fitting lid is required to keep this beautiful fish. Green Wrasse does not have any specific swimming level but this active water swimmer is well known for jumping from tanks without any kind of covering. A 2-3 inch sandy bottom is also required in the tank for Green Wrasse to hide under if frightened, and other peaceful wrasses, including its own species. It likes to eat fire worms and pyramidellid snails protecting corals and clams. In addition, Green Wrasse may eat feather dusters, wild shrimp, tubeworms, and flatworms. Regular feedings should include a variety of prepared and live meaty foods such as feeder shrimps, flaked foods, and marine fish.
