Undulate Trigger Fish - Balistapus undulatus: The Undulate Trigger fish, also known as the Orangelined Triggerfish or Orangetailed Triggerfish, has an attractive, emerald-green body with yellow-orange vertical stripes.

A 55 gallon or larger aquarium with large pieces of rock to form caves is ideal. It will rearrange the aquarium landscaping and rocks. It vocalizes using a "grunting" sound. It is a hardy fish to keep, with a temperament considered aggressive towards other fish in the tank

The Balistapus undulatus or Undulated Trigger fish is a very desireable choice for the marine aquarium and is very sought after. Best known for it's eventual belligerent attitude, this fish can be shy when introduced but will get over this behaviour quite quickly. Should be housed as the only trigger as it is likely to attack tankmates eventually. Will likely bite your hand, be sure you know where this pretty specimen is at all times when reaching into your tank

Maximum Size: This species grows to 12 inches in length.

General Size: This Undulate trigger fish is about seven to eight inches in length.

Minimum Tank Size Suggested: A 55 gallon or larger aquarium provides a good environment for these Undulate trigger fish .

Tank Conditions: The Undulate trigger fish should ideally be kept in temperatures between 72 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit. A pH value of 8.1 or 8.4, and a specific gravity of 1.020 to 1.025 should be maintained. When kept with invertebrates, the specific gravity range should be 1.020 to 1.025, for the invertebrate species. In a fish only aquarium, the specific gravity should fall between 1.020 and 1.023.

Habitat: The Undulate trigger fish occurs on coral reefs in tropical marine waters of the Indo-Pacific. In Australia, the Undulate trigger fish is known from central to north-western Western Australia and from the entire length of the Great Barrier Reef south to northern New South Wales.

Feeding and Diet: The Undulate Trigger Fish diet consist of meaty foods such as live shrimps, live fishes and sometimes crustacean flesh. They are carnivorous.
