Vlamingii Tang - Naso vlamingi: The Vlamingii Tang, also known as the Vlaming's Unicornfish, or Bignose Unicornfish, has a brown to purple body color when an adult. In the juvenile, the color graduates from lighter, dorsally, to darker, ventrally. It has vertical markings on the body and blue highlights. The dorsal fin, anal fin, tail, and face are all sparingly detailed in a brilliant bright blue.

The Vlamingi Tang is one of the largest of the Surgeonfish/Tang family. Though as a juvenile this fishes coloration is less striking than many of it's relatives but will grow to have beautiful metallic blue highlights on an olive gray background. They prefers to school with other Vlamingi as juveniles. As an adult it may fight with other Vlamingi Tangs but is usually peaceful with most other tangs.

The adults of this species are grayish-brown overall with blue lines on the body, blue along the base of the dorsal and anal fins, and blue on the tail. The Vlamingi Tang is a very active fish that is among the hardiest of all tangs! They may even thrive unless than optimal conditions. Highly sought after, this species becomes quite spectacular as they grow. It needs lots of swimming room, not a tank cluttered with décor. This species can usually hold their own with many of their tankmates. The aquarium should have a tight-fitting lid to prevent the fish from jumping out to escape. In the wild, it is usually found swimming over the reef feeding on zooplankton.

Maximum size: The Vlamingi Tang grows upto 24 inches.

General size: This fish generally comes in size of 4 to 12 inches.

A pH value of 8.1 or 8.4, and a specific gravity of 1.020 to 1.025 should be maintained. When kept with invertebrates, the specific gravity range should be 1.020 to 1.025, for the invertebrate species. In a fish only aquarium, the specific gravity should fall between 1.020 and 1.023
